Our 2018 ski trip was to Folgaria in Italy. 80 pupils had the most amazing week with perfect snow conditions; beautiful blue skies at the start of the week and a fresh fall of snow at the end, and the best ski instructors in Italy.
Parents often ask how they can help their son/daughter during exam time. We have exam information and useful guidelines here.
Open Night on Thursday 18th January attracted a large crowd of interested Primary School pupils and their parents. It was a very successful evening.
To reward the reading efforts of our pupils the highest achieving class got to choose a teacher and a forfeit. 10A2 picked Mr Chambers and the bath of beans, 8A2 selected the same forfeit for Mr Kirk and 9A2 picked Mrs Crothers and the ice bucket challenge.
Killicomaine choir entertained customers at Rushmere Shopping Centre with an afternoon of Christmas songs and carols. 
Killicomaine's Student Council Elections are taking place shortly. Nominees have produced short election broadcasts to help you decide who will receive your vote. 
Killicomaine is part of the Craigavon Area Learning Community -  CALC. CALC brings together all the Post Primary educational bodies to improve educational provision for pupils aged 11-19. See more about CALC here.

The 2017 summer trip to Barcelona was educational, action packed and lots of fun for 40 Killicomaine pupils.
Killicomaine Junior Netball team beat Tandragee to win the Vista Cup and the Vista League in an exciting 19-5 final.
Killicomaine Minor Netball team played Lurgan in a tightly fought Vista Cup Final. Thanks to a last minute goal the minors won by 13-12 to take the 2017 Vista Cup.
Killicomaine beat Lurgan Junior High 2:1 in the Hockey Junior Cup Final on Monday 6th March to become the 2017 Junior Cup Champions.
In the Mid Ulster Soccer Cup Final Killicomaine came back from a 1-0 half time deficit to triumph 2-1 over Lurgan, with great goals from Reece Buttery and Ben Harvey. This 9th year team have now captured the League and Cup double.
Killicomaine played Methodist College Belfast in the Hockey Junior Cup Final. Killicomaine won 2:1 to progress to the final against Lurgan JHS.
Our 2017 ski trip was to Ehrwald in Austria. 68 pupils had the most amazing week with perfect snow conditions and beautiful blue skies every day.
9CF visited The Merchant Hotel in Belfast where Food & Beverages Manager, Mauro Zanza taught pupils 5 star skills including how to meet and greet guests and serve food and drinks at an event.  A big thanks to the Merchant Hotel for being so generous with their time and expertise.
As part of our year 8 financial capability programme 8B1 and 8B2 collected money to buy Christmas hampers. The pupils purchased the goods in Asda, and donated the hampers to the Salvation Army who will deliver them to families in need in the Craigavon area.
The Tharp family are an American evangelistic band who travel around schools in the UK and America teaching about God through their love of singing. The band visited us in November and treated everyone to a fun afternoon and a CD of their songs.
Ulster Youth Choir Conductor Alan Leech gave Killicomaine choir a lesson comprising of breathing and singing exercises, learning songs and singing in rounds. It was really good fun and Alan gave us lots of good tips on how to better our singing voices.
In Killicomaine Junior High we use a programme called Accelerated Reader with ALL our pupils to help us in our aim to develop lifelong readers. You can see Accelerated Reader in action here.
A house netball tournament was played with teams from year 8 and teams from year 9/10 competing for their houses; Blacker, Jackson, Schomberg and Walker.
Pates School, Cheltenham, fielded 3 rugby teams against Killicomaine on Wednesday 19th October 2016 on the first leg of their Irish tour. Killicomaine 10As, 9As and 9Bs put up worthy performances in a real Ireland Vs England battle.
The STEM module (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) got pupils involved in a forensics experiment to solve a murder enquiry.

Some Year 10 students attended a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) conference at Armagh Planetarium. The event was to promote the uptake of STEM careers in further education.
Year 9 geographers all had a presentation from WaterAid; an international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.
The French Onatti theatre group visited KJHS and performed “Le café” to all Year 9 and 10 pupils. The performance was completely in French. Volunteers were picked to go on stage to practise their French speaking skills and help the actors. The play was very funny and the drama and props were very good.
French exchange student Léna Clech took part in our French lessons on 14th September. Pupils asked her questions about herself and her French culture. They improved their French speaking and Léna practised her English skills.
8C pupils participated in a balloon release to mark International Literacy Week. Each balloon had a tag attached asking the finder to contact us with the title of their favourite read. Thank you to Burning Desires for kindly donating the helium balloons.
Mike Nesbitt, leader of the UUP, visited the school on Friday to find out more about the Dickson Plan and transfer at 14. He was accompanied by Julie Flaherty, a former pupil of the school.
Year 8 pupils had an Enterprise Day in October 2016. Through fun network generating exercises, young people are able to ease themselves into their new school gaining valuable social skills.

The year 10 boys' Rugby team visited Kingspan Stadium in June 2016. The boys enjoyed a tour of the stadium and visited The Nevin Spence education centre.

As a charity fundraiser the U13 hockey teams all donated £1 each and added some pink accessories to their PE kit with their games against Banbridge Academy on Saturday 3rd October. All proceeds donated to Breast Cancer Research. Well done Pink Ladies.
The razzle dazzle of the West End came to Killicomaine in January 2016 when pupils performed in the school production of 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Christmas choir
Killicomaine 2016 choir entertained customers at Rushmere Shopping Centre with an afternoon of Christmas songs and carols.

Christmas jumpers
Pupils wore their Christmas jumpers to school on Friday 9th December 2016 as part of a fundraising event for Southern Area Hospice and Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
Christmas Tree Festival
Killicomaine 2016 choir entertained visitors to the Christmas Tree Festival at Edenderry Methodist church with an afternoon of Christmas carols.
Shoebox appeal
Members of the 16/17 charity committee with 56 shoeboxes which were collected thanks to pupils, staff and parents. Drop Inn Ministries are working with Team Hope to help distribute the boxes to children in Africa and Eastern Europe. See more of our charity work here.
Crafty pupils
Some very “crafty” people in Year 9 were showing their talents this Christmas! They produced a festive post-box, a knitted Christmas tree, a Christmas picture, and a Christmas tree to name a few. Prizes were awarded to each class along with prizes for outstanding entries.
Movember - staff
Thank goodness Movember is over! Lots of staff members cultivated moustaches to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's suicide. A coffee morning raised £178.50.
Movember - pupils
Pupils got involved for Movember, selling sick on moustaches and running a photo booth. Pupils raised £157.76 for men's health issues.
